From Frustrated Mom to “The Camera Lady” šø
Hi, I’m Alisha! If you’ve been to a local game in Wayne County or surrounding areas, you might know me as “the camera lady” – and there’s actually a pretty good story behind how I earned that nickname.
How It All Started
My photography journey began in 2009, but it wasn’t until 2022 that I turned my passion into Lilley Photography. The real catalyst? A completely frustrating experience trying to get decent photos of my own kids. Picture this: I’m paying good money for what I thought would be beautiful family photos, and they used the FIRST shot – where nobody was happy, nobody looked natural, and it just felt… wrong.
That moment changed everything. I realized there was this huge gap in our community between cheap, bulk photography that felt impersonal and the super expensive, high-end studios that many families just couldn’t afford. I thought, “There has to be a better way.”
Becoming “The Camera Lady”
So I picked up my camera and started showing up. Local games, community events, anywhere families were making memories. I’d capture those genuine moments – the victory celebrations, the proud parent faces, the team huddles. Before I knew it, people started recognizing me. “Oh, there’s the camera lady!” they’d say.
What started as me just wanting to help families get beautiful photos turned into something bigger. Parents began approaching me after games, asking if I could do their senior photos. Word spread. Soon, I wasn’t just “the camera lady” at games – I was THE camera lady families trusted with their most important moments.
My “Why”
Being behind the camera and making people smile is my therapy. I never want to stop taking pictures because every session reminds me why I started this journey. It’s not just about the photos – it’s about creating an experience where families feel comfortable, authentic, and celebrated.
